Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been in Gujarat for a three-day tour since Saturday, is set visit Vantara, an animal rescue centre in Jamnagar, on Sunday.
Vantara is an animal rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation centre established by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation in Jamnagar in an area of nearly 3,000 acres within its refinery complex.
Later in the day, the PM is set to visit Sasan, the headquarters of Gir National National Park, PM Modi will also chair a meeting of Shree Somnath Trust, which manages the world famous Somnath temple, in his capacity as its chairperson.
The National Conference (NC) and the Congress have convened separate legislature party meetings in Jammu on Sunday, a day before the start of the first Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in seven years. This will be the first Budget of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led NC government and the second Assembly session after assuming power in October last year.
The 40-day budget session, having a total of 22 sittings, is scheduled to start on Monday with the address of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The Budget Session is likely to be stormy with the Sajjad Lone-led Peoples Conference reportedly having moved a resolution to the Assembly secretariat condemning the abrogation of Article 370 and demanding the restoration of pre-August 2019 constitutional position. While it was not immediately clear whether the Speaker had entertained the resolution, the BJP had said it will not tolerate any “unconstitutional, undemocratic or anti-national agenda” during the session.
On February 27, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather chaired an all-party meeting of legislators seeking cooperation during the session to ensure productivity of the house.
